HelloLooking for sources that can re-plate a watch case for a reasonable price. I'm restoring my father's first watch he received in the 1950's, a Croton EL, nothing fancy, but it does have a nice hand-wind movement inside it. The case needs to be re-plated with gold and I can't find a place that will re-plate for a reasonable amount of money. One quote was over $100. Something under $40 would be more what I'm willing to spend.
So I havent made a semi-large purchase in a while, and I was considering doing so in the form of a Longines Flagship. I have seen them on the used market in the $1000 range, and was wondering is this really the watch to go for. Can I get some advice on other possibles that I should consider in this price range, preferably white dial, around 40mm, decent resale/trade value for the distant future and I wont be picky on the strap/bracelet as long as its not PVD.(borrowed photo for visual aid)
