You just don't see that many black dialed vintage American watches out there, especially ones that are in good shape. I'm not sure why black was not a popular dial color, but I really like them. They do pop out well on the wrist IMHO. Also, the ones you do see didn't seem to hold-up to well for some reason. I have several, but here is one of my favorites.
