This may sound strange. I really do think I take good care of my watches. I use a car wax on a soft cloth the other day and applied it to one of my SS bracelets. I was very surprised at the tarnish that was removed to a clean soft cloth. Being anal, I then started doing other watches. I was again surprised at what revealed itself on a clean soft cloth.
