WellI am about buy my first watch and just had a very crazy idea. I suppose there is no such thing as an "SMP tuning kit", however in "Tomorrow never dies" and "The world is not enough" the SMP quartz was shown with nice blue and white backlight. Have you ever heard of an official omega SMP (quartz) that comes with backlight?Has anyone actually did such a tuning? I have inherited my grandfather's wonderful NS Watch from the 70's . The problem is that it was designed for a mercury battery and that is of course not going to be very fruitful. So 2 questions,1st : I put in a 1.5 volt cell out of ignorance and it of course didn't work. Is it totally fried?2nd : I have seen a lot of information on mercury battery work arounds that end up lasting only a week or two.
