So....my beautiful new white faced steelsfish makes on odd sound when the rotor spins. Its not a typical winding spin but instead it sounds like a few pronounced clicks. I got my first vintage watch (1940 Hamilton) from the bay. I wound it a few turns and it runs. I took the case back off and the movement looks pristine. So, can I use it as is or does a vintage watch have to be serviced before use? I read that you shouldn't run a watch "dirty and dry". Who knows when this watch was last serviced. I don't want to ruin the movement but I would like to just use it as is if it works. So, do I use it or service it before use?
