Do watches that need to be wound need to be kept wound? If I had a watch that only got occasional duty (say once a week) and so spend days at a time stopped, would that cause any long term problems? Should it be pulled out and wound every day even if not being worn?I know that many mechanical devices will seize up if not operated regularly; I'm guessing the same will happen to a watch. But would a wear every week or so be enough to keep it running?
Recently I have been exploring quite a bit AP literature and I had understood that their basic workhorse used to be the caliber 2121 with the 3120 taking progressively its place in all the basic models with cases of sizes which allow this. However, looking at prices models sporting the 2121 are constantly 2000 to 3000 US$ more expensive than those using the 3120. Is there anyone who can explain how these two movements compare?GLF
