I was looking at Hamilton's 1969 price list recently. The price for the consumer was marked up 100%. This is probably still the case today. You would think consumers would be able to negotiate the price the same as is done when shopping for a car. This may be the practice, as I've never bought a watch from any AD, as I only buy vintage on eBay. What kind of discount is likely when purchasing a new watch? (Just trying to educate myself in the event I ever buy something new. )
I have owned a 16233 datejust and a 14060M sub but having recently sold the sub I am looking at buying a "d" series explorer 1 but after reading Walt Odet's review of some years ago I am scared. So here are a few questions: 1. Does the 14270 use the 3130 calibre movement? if so, isn't that the same as the 14040M movement? respected Watchmaker Nicholas Hacko in Sydney, Australia has had some criticism of the explorer's movement. Odet said that the explorer is a great $800 watch..and anyone
