According to the Complete Guide to Watches by Cooksey Shugart this watch is a 1939 diamond dial with a platinum case. I can not find any other information other then a picture from the book and the date. I have never seen another of it's kind. This watch went to Germany in WWII with my father and hasn't run since. There's an oddity on the UK eBay site right now. Can't link as it's a commercial seller. Suffice it to say it's a - Vintage Hamilton 987 10k Gold cased fancy lugs 17 jewels over wound.The movement's a 987-E, but the face and case are completely unknown to my eyes. I see a bit of an Ellsworth resemblance in the dial, but only a bit. The case is completely unknown to me. Any theories on this oddity?
