I was noticing this morning how much "smaller" my Rolex Submariner looked compared to my Milgauss, even though both are 40mm. I did some measuring and discovered that the Sub has a 28mm dial, the Milgauss has a 34mm dial. My SMP is 41mm, but the dial itself is only 31mm. The bezels on some dive watches are so big, they tend to dwarf the dial itself. The Sub's bezel accounts for 30% of the total measurement of the watch head. The SMP's bezel accounts for 24.4% of the watch head.
This arrived Thursday. Until recently I didn't understand the appeal of a heavy watch. What brought on the change? Comfortable heavy watches. When I parted with my Orange Monster I wanted to replace it with another comfortable heavy watch. I loved the Orange Monster, except for the fact that it was non-hacking and couldn't be manually wound. While I wouldn't really call this a replacement of an OM, it is a heavy comfortable watch.
